Chess on TV

I have heard rumours that the BBC in the UK may be planning a England v Russia series of games to be televised. Just a rumour mind.

Has any chess appeared on TV recently (this century) does anybody know?

The trouble with the last time, is I could not understand the games as the standard was too far ahead of me.

It contained a Rook sacrifice*. Subsequently I looked at the game and discovered my opponent missed a mate, so it was badly flawed! (I missed a move.)

(* Also contained a Prawn and a Queen for Rook sacrifice but it was the Rook sacrifice, I thought was best. It was actually desperate. But, alas, flawed. )

The opponent forfeited thje game and mucked it up. But I do not feel so bad about it now I think I found a flaw.

Do you know when the BBC are planning to broadcast the chess games as I would be quite interested?

I remember watching Nigel Short play Kasparov on channel 4 many years ago. Some time in the early 90s I think. That's the only time I've seen or heard of it on British terrestrial tv.

That's when I realised I did not understand the Grandmaster moves.
