What do you think of this site?? www.logicalchess.comIt looks pretty good at first glance but i'm just wondering (as all the info is given for free) how reliable the info on the site is. Anyway, it's a useful tool for anyone who is just starting out and wants to know some basic theory.

The 'logical' book listing is laughably out of sync, or perhaps we should say, illogically assigned! :}
And, Nimzowitch's 'My System' ... one for the beginners??
Another chessic site to kiss off! :}

Is this logical chess? Game # 338601 at Stans site. Reuben Fine in his classic work, 'Basic Chess Endings' (Page 461-466), cites several cases where the K&R can force the mate against K&B. I quote BCE (1958 Ed) page 461: # A. ROOK VS. BISHOP (NO PAWNS) In the general case (pieces arbitrarily placed) this is a draw. It can be won by force only if the Black King is in the "wrong" corner or in the center with his opponent having the opposition. The "wrong" corner is that which has the same color as the Bishop; the "right" corner is of the opposite color. It is always possible to force the King to the side of the board by successively pinning the Bishop. But the Black King should head for the right corner as fast as his legs will carry him, and once arrived there nothing can happen to him. # I'm not sure what you meant when you asked if the game you quoted is 'logical', but I think there are lessons to be learnt, especially concerning how well (or not!) we play the endgame, and the ill informed presumptions many of us make at this crucial stage of the game. In the game www.stansco.com/cgi-bin/nc_game.cgi?338601 you said, "A bishop and king against a rook and king is a long drawn out game". White could have 'logically' responded, "Perhaps, but maybe I can persuade your king to meander across to the "wrong" corner, cos Reuben Fine says ..."
