Unable to install programs on Windows 8 laptop.

After installing Windows 8 on my Asus Zenbook 32VD, i tried to install programs such as drivers and whatnot to the laptop. However i find that all the programs that are install will not complete (the installation status bar doesnt complete at all). Upon checking the task manager i find that the windows installer is showing no signs of activity.

Can anyone help me on this issue?
