Hi people
I'm very curious about the karma here on Stan's message board. You cannot change your own but you can 'Exalt' someone elses to put it up 1 point or 'Smite' it to put it down 1 point.
Can anyone explain what this is all about?

Hi Bellesbabe I don't think it's possible to see who has given or taken away your karma, I would like to know because someone keeps on taking mine away.  I will put yours up to put you back to 0 and you can return the favour if you like  |

The karma thing is a very stupid and unnecessary thing at this board. The way it is now, you can smite or exalt a person's karma once per hour, which means if one user really doesn't like another (or vice versa) he has no problem of smiting (exalting) his victim multiple times. Given the very small number of users, this tends to distort the karma number. I have never used any other boards with that feature. It's just useless.

don't take the karma thingy too seriously people, as i see it, it's there just for fun.
my karma counts won't effect my chess play in any way, and that is good enough for me.

I haven't been back 5 minutes, and apparently I already have 1 karma. Stan, this new board is fine, but if it were up to me, I'd deactivate the karma thing. It's rather silly....and too anonymous. |
