...that Stan took down all those tournaments that have been waiting to be filled up for the last 5 or 6 years. It's obvious that they never will get underway, so why keep them up?

There is an answer to this question somewhere in the great halls of this message board. I recall Stan answering this question on more then one occasion. :0)

I'm just guessing but the lack of subscribers might be a causal factor. 10 out of the top 100 players here kick in a lousy $25 a year. The total amount of all the players who choose to support Stan's site is generally in the low 30's.
I don't know how much it costs Stan for servers and any other overhead expenses but do the math.
One day he's going to get fed up with all the b.s. and pull the plug. I for one will be be missing the fun here playing chess with friends whom I greatly appreciate and respect.
Any other thoughts out there?
