Hello to you all.
Im now taking entries for my big knockout tournament. For those from England its an FA Cup style tournament, the first two rounds will be played within a rating section with level 5 players joining in round 3. So if you are interested in joining all i need is your stans username and your level / current rating.
It would be fantastic to resurrect the traditional tournaments at this site, and get as many as possible entering with a simple knockout game, rather than waiting months for each round to finish.
Im hoping to get at least 150 entries.

I don't understand why you are posting all this information about your tournament on Stan's? I cannot find you under "players". Your tournament is not listed under any of Stan's listed tournaments. You are constantly giving updates on a tournament that can't be found on Stan's on Stan's Message Board. Can you tell me or anyone else who might be interested why this is? Thanks. :0)

I would need more details before I could make that decision. What type of tournament will it be? How long will it last? How many players? I would need to check Stan's guidelines and see what the commitment is for maintaining a page. Can you give me more details? You can communicate here or to my e-mail on my page if you like. Thanks. :0)

Mickey, I gave you pointers to the guidelines to run a listed tournament, including helping you by letting you know that you can use the URL of a message post as your tournament "home page". Since you have all the information and access you need to do it right, you merely need to follow through including following the rules As you can see, your lack of stating your name and Stan's NetChess handle here is, as you say, your own prerogative, but it is against the rules for running an official tourney.
You wondered why I posted rules that you said "everyone knows", so I won't give you the URLs or quote the rules to you again. But please, please stop complaining about not having a "home page" and do make an effort to actually follow the guidelines--this will greatly reduce confusion here for people who aren't in on how you choose to do things on the board your own way, rather than Stan's way. Of course, you may choose to disregard my advice.
I will NOT be joining any future tourneys of yours if you do not follow the steps to get the tournaments listed. I only joined the first tourney here, to give you encouragement, and a chance to show your gratitude and learning by following the tourney guidelines. You do not need to impose upon skyward to run YOUR tourney for you!

I dont have the time to create a tournament homepage, by all means swap places with me and work my 60 hours a week job and then find yourself some time to sit down and do exactly what u suggest. This is why my current tournament does not feature on a page. 2 players from the current tournament have offered to do the building, so may i suggest you contact them and put forward your suggestions. Thanks. Those players are Big Mitch and Pawnpusher47

You do not appear to understand--just post a new thread. THAT message has a URL. THAT URL would be the "home page" of the tournament. Capische?
You obviously DO have time to post. You have had to repeatedly post your name, for example, and your NetChess handle.
It would save you time to follow the guidelines you have been given and place it in a single message, and then following the instructions I sent you to get the tourney listed.
You also are doing the time for the current tourney to post the pairings. There is no additional time commitment to doing a correct tournament--the commitment is to show respect for the rules and to actually follow them.
I hope you find this message helpful.

In case you did not observe the drop-down list at the right of your own posts, I direct your attention there, where you will see "Link to Post". If you post a new thread to host your tourney info in one easy-to-find place, as instructed, you will find the URL of the "home page" by activating that "Link to Post". For example, the URL corresponding to your message above mine is: stansteliga.proboards.com/post/5901/thread

I appreciate your being polite. It would be most polite if you actually follow through with what you say. You call it your big knockout tournament, hoping to get at least 150 entries, and you don't have time to actually ensure that the rules for tourneys are followed, such as posting your real name, Stan's name, tournament rules, etc. all on a single post, but instead require people to ask you, whereupon you DO answer. However, the actual work of running the tournament is, I must agree with you, best done with somebody who has the time. After all, look at your first attempt to run a ten player tournament, all play all. The first six rounds are completed, and you have yet to publish the pairings for the final three rounds... Nobody needs to write a separate web page--to follow Stan's rules, you just need to post the initial information here on the message board to start a new thread (as the "home page"), and then update that specific message thread, rather than jumping about, etc. [Although your early offer, since declined, to post commentary of "player profiles" was rightly placed into a separate thread.] I appreciate your work in drumming up enthusiasm for tournaments here, and I hope that you will find the able and willing assistance that you seek.

Im confused comet, all nine rounds of your games are completed. In round 7 you played Winggame and lost. in round 8 you played me and lost and in round 9 you played highbottom and won. Withnail has 2 games left to play for which the first round will be completed, You have been sent emails with the latest table and the very last one has you played 9 games. Or have you been playing 2 games per round ??
Once withnail finished his games then you will receive your second round opponent as you finished in the bottom 4.
Everyone else seems to have adhered to the rules and is happy with the outcome. As for my mega tournament Im collecting names and will eventually get to the point of creating a page for the information to be displayed having spoken previously to stan about this and being informed that he was in favour of such a venture.
