I know that the SNC rating is always the current one but anyway I'd like to get this as ELO rating in the exported PGN file.
Is it possible without editing any single game?
By the way, I have just done my yearly subscription to this nice site ;D
Merry Christmas !

I see there are some supplimental tags at: www.saremba.de/chessgml/standards/pgn/pgn-complete.htmIt shows WhiteElo and BlackElo, but it says that these are for FIDE Elo ratings. I don't know if there would be objections from FIDE if I included those tags and put in ratings from my site. The other problem is that I don't have ratings as of the time of the game. So games from a year ago would show your current ratings. I wish I had thought to store ratings in the games records. I should have had "White/Black Start Rating", "White/Black End Rating" (rating at game end before rating adjustment calculations were performed) and "White/Black Adjusted Rating". The archived games are stored in PGN format so I don't think I would add the tags to games that have already been archived. For games that have not been archived, the PGN is generated dynamically each time you show the PGN - so I could add the tags and they would just start showing up in any PGN you show. What are your thoughts about the possible FIDE issue and the "old" ratings issue?

I think you could use the "Event" tag to add SNC rating informations Example: whiteSNC 2183 blackSNC 1890 [Event "Game 472428 2183-1890"] I know that many other chess sites use WhiteElo and BlackElo to store their 'custom' rating levels... I think that is only a formal question... anyone could create PGN files with false or wrong values... it's only a protocol About 'old' rating, it's not a problem to me, it's only for completeness of my chess databases. I'm 41 years old and my strenght is established . I have an official rating in my chess club but it doesn't mean nothing for the rest of the world until I play in a official rated tournament. SNC rating (or freechess.org or playchess rating) are more interesting because I'm playing often and with real people. So, if you're able to put (current) SNC rating somewhere in the PGN file, it helps About the future, you could add a line in Game Notes (for registered players) at the start of the game with the current rating of players: If players don't care, they can delete it.

If I was to add the ratings information I talked about to the database, what rating would you want in the PGN? The "At Start", "At End" or "Adjusted"? Maybe even all three???

I have added WhiteElo and BlackElo to the PGN produced by the two PGN programs at the site (Java PGN and Plain PGN). I'd like to hear whatever feedback that anyone wants to provide. I hope it doesn't have any negative effects on the ability for programs to be able to import the PGN.
The rating shown is always the current rating of each player. I hope to be able to add more rating information to the database, as described in one of my prior posts, so that the ratings displayed in the PGN will be "as of the start of the game" rather than just the current ratings.
Happy New Year everyone.

Hi Stan, I hope that you keep this idea on your to-do list, even as it ages. I know you are busy, and perhaps you are already so organized as to keep track of these old issues. I appreciate all the work you continue to do to keep this site running.

Just saw this... I wish I had done a lot of things differently with the rating system. We don't have ratings as of the time of the games. I could (and maybe will sometime) start saving that information so it can be shown with the games. I suppose I should actually keep 3 versions of the ratings with each game - (#1) Rating of each player at start of game, (#2) Rating of each player at end of game (BEFORE rating adjustment) and (#3) Rating of each player at end of game (AFTER rating adjustment). I guess the rating I would put in the PGN would be the #1 rating, but I'm sure there are valid points for using rating #2 or #3. Since games can take many months, maybe the better rating to show in the PGN would be #3.
It's pretty clear to everyone that I am just keeping site live at this point. There haven't been any changes in quite a while. I apologize for that, but I have felt that it is better to keep it going as long as possible so people can play - rather than just shutting it down. 16.5 years at this point - not bad when you consider making it something for me and my cousin to play chess was all I had in mind at the beginning. It hasn't caught on like I hoped it would when I did open it up to the world, but I know that's my fault.

Well, that's embarrassing - I just went up and read the posts from 2009 - saying the same thing I just said today.
