On an almost daily basis, I post messages in the Public Message box of my player’s page. They have mystified several of my opponents and so to enlighten them and future opponents I offer the following explanation. The messages are from a competition held on the Internet where contributors were invited to send in error messages that might appear in the Japanese version of Windows. The messages had to be in haiku format. This format consists of a poem of three lines. The first line must be of five syllables, the second line of seven syllables and third and last line, of five syllables. You may not be into poetry, never mind poetry of a particular form, but I think you will enjoy these haikus. We have all been there and many of us still carry the painful memories. Find below a single example (I rotate a set of twenty-five). I won’t spoil the fun for others by giving the full set here. Here is my favourites. Windows XP crashed I am the Blue Screen of Death No one hears your screams. If you want the set I use and other as well, try archive.salon.com/21st/chal/1998/02/10chal3.html but don’t blame me if it doesn’t work, I don’t understand these things. Cheers, Denis.
