My SCA Rating is 1567 but I am playing to current 1650 strength so in my opinion the new ratings for this site will be very close and accurate to real time. I had thought perhaps that players who are active in clubs and tournaments could submit evidence of their current ratings for stan to use in his calcualtions. If anyone is interested in the league I play in, go to www.chessedinburgh.co.uk and look under division 2 results : Musselburgh 2 Chess Club. For anyone who does not know me my real name is Michael BOD Pollard

Nightmare,
His point wass that the New rating system at Stan's seems to be well aligned to the ratings that are given by official chess organizations. In his case his SCA is 1567.
Most country level organizations (Except the USA) try and align their local ratings with the FIDE. The USA for some reason hass not done that and USCF ratings are about 100 higher than equivalent FIDE ratings. England may still be using the BCF system(?) which is even stranger, but I think there are talks to move to a FIDE aligned rating.
At Stan's we have aligned our new rating system with those of the ICCF [The official body that controls the rules and regulations for CC chess]. So your new rating at Stan's NetChess is very close to the rating you would get if you played in official ICCF tournaments.

The usual way of converting a BCF to elo type rating is (BCFx8)+600, so 150 becomes 1800, 175 is 2000, etc.. In reverse, were Bod to cross the border to play in an English tournament, he would be credited with a BCF rating of 121.
From what I have seen in my time so far at Stan's the current ratings at the upper end are probably about 25-30% of what the player would achieve OTB. (I hope I am not doing anyone a disservice.) The new ratings are much closer, though probably still a few percent higher. For example, I would probably be around SCA 1900-1950 and my new Stan's is 2070ish.
