Here's a little trap. Don't know if it is sound or not? (They are usually NOT). It was not an accident though. White telegraphed his intentions and I was just too tempted. www.stansco.com/cgi-bin/nc_game.cgi?351529?16w?black?largeBlack (me) moves Rbc8. Is it a blunder or devious? The temptation for white is to move Bb7 which is what he does. Did this move lose him the game? or was the move sound but what happened afterwards went awry for white?

don't think it's a blunder, but white could have played it differently. for instance, instead of 20 Rb7, 20 Bb5 was possible. not sure it was any better, but certainly needs to be analyzed.

I agree 20.Bb5 is better and I would expect that white is better..
I believe the final mistake to be 22.Bxd5 (I think 22.c6 would have given white time to get his king sorted)
BUT...didn't black miss an easier win with 22...Rb1+ 23.Kd2 RxR 24.Qe8+ Kh7 and up a rook?
Not that it matters as nobody ever asks HOW you won.

Not that it matters as nobody ever asks HOW you won. Sometimes games are decided by an obvious blunder. OTB I can often feel the nuances when the game is going for me or against me. 22,..... Rb1 does not work because of a Queen check on the back rank and then the white Bishop pinning my Queen against my King. Easier to see this during the game. A possible trap set by my opponent, but really too obvious! (but perhaps not?) This is one game, I feel that I had won, rather than the opponent lost.

22. c6 would have been much better for White! Might have been a draw then. White would have to give up any chance of his own trap though. Such are decisions based not entirely on the best move on the board, but the best move because of your own personality or appraisal of the opponent.
I tried some traps before. It is worst when the opponent admits he never saw the opportunity, and declined the trap because he did not see it !!!
