Today's interesting stats are about how consistent players are in their level of play. We have analyzed this by level since ratings tend to move around more the lower the rating of the player. Very consistent players don't have huge swings in their ratings. To have been included in the analysis the player needed to be currently active and to have completed 200 games against other established players. We have tracked players highest and lowest ratings by month. We then compared these to their average highest and lowest ratings by month. The smaller the difference the more consistent the player has been. The difference is the average variation in their rating. So 18.2 would mean that on average the highest rating for a player for each month only varied by 18.2 from their average highest rating for each month. Pretty consistent. The higher the number the les consistent the player. Jde, I'm not sure who the "we" is you are asking on behalf of but, I've been asked by a lot of players if their is a way to spot players who occassionally play way above their average abilities. I have not found a way to do that, but I have found a way to spot those that are very consistent. So I may eventually build a list of consistent players so that those who wish to use it can select players from that list for challenges.

jde,
Stan can obviously delete a game. But from the perspective of many players they want to know that when the play someone rated about their rating that the opponent does not suddenly start playing as if they were rated 400 points higher. Other players do not care.
We may arrange a tournament so that a player is placed in a division based on their highest rating rather than their current average.

John - was that one of the 10 games that you resigned in, then decided you shouldn't have done that? You never asked me to delete a game - unless that one of the dozens of accounts you use and I just recognize it.

Spazman said He asked you to delete them since they were against Him, He said you emailed Him and said No you wouldn't.

He asked me if I could delete games and I said no, but I could reinstate games that had been resigned in if both players wanted it - however, I cannot do that for "Tournament" type tourneys because when a game completes in those tourneys, new games are created. "League" type tourney games can be reinstated if necessary.
