I wondered why the standings go up and down so quickly. Not that I am particularly bothered by it. Just wondered how the system works?
If it is the best performers that go to the top of the list (results or games in pregress?) If that is an asset, as then they play stronger opponents if I have interpeted how it works correctly?

Perseus,
Your question is a very good one. I wish the answer was simple LOL... but its a little tricky. So...
In a normal Swiss tournament all games from the previous round are completed before the next round is scheduled. Nice when a game take 2-4 hours to complete, but not practical in a CC world. So instead we automatically "predict the result" based on the players relative ratings, who has white and who has black etc. We use actual results when we can. We also look at the actual results the player has in the tournament so far and if they are doing better than their rating would have predicted we inflate their rating before predicting results. The order of the players you see is based on the predicted results for all the rounds lanuched in the tournament. This predicted result is used when pairing the next round.
With this system people who are doing much better than expected are going to be foreced to play higher and higher opponents. As the torunament progresses it will bebased more on actual results and less on the predictions.
Its not a perfect system, but its the best we could come up with for this type of tourney in a CC world.
Note: the actual predicter is a bit more complciated than I explained.

Open Swiss Tournament.
I won three games and I shoot up 160 places. All down to blunders by the opposition.
PS: I think I will end getting blown right off the Board if I am matched against some of the higher rated players!
