I would like to see who might be interested in a Fantasy World Cup 2006 Tournament --- nothing to do with chess...
The way it would work is as follows:
1) Everyone picks the results of the first round -- 48 matches. 1 pt for picking the correct result. 2 pts for exactly picking the score.
2) Everyone gets to pick the results for the 2nd round. (8 matches) 2pts for a correct result. 4 pts for exactly picking the score. Score and result are only for the game and not penalties. If you pick a draw then you can also pick who will win on penalties. Pick this correctly and its 5 more points.
3) Everyone gets to pick the results for the Quarter finals. 4 Matches 3 pts for the correct result. 6 pts for the correct score. If you pick a draw and correctly pick who will win on penalties its 8 points more.
4) Everyone gets to pick the results for semi finals. 4 pts for the correct result. 8 pts for the correct score. If you pick a draw and correctly pick who will win on penalties its 10 points more.
5) Everyone gets to pick the final and the 3/4th play off. 5 pts for the correct result. 10 pts for the correct score. If you pick a draw and correctly pick who will win on penalties its 12 points more.
We will only do this if at least 10 people are interested.

Or for something a tad more chess related, you could enter my World Cup 2006 site tourney. Everyone enters as one of the countries that has qualified - each country can only be chosen once - and I'll take the last country to remain. As with the real thing we'll qualify from the group to the knock-out stages. Major difference being that we'll have quite a few more group games, and of course that it's chess, and no-one is taking bets on the haircut you'll come to the board with. [YES, believe it or not you can bet on the hairstyle David Beckham will have at the World Cup, ] www.stansco.com/cgi-bin/nc_t_tr.cgi?1146

I have not got time right now to increase my game load. But my imagination goes off at tangents (which is why I make lots of silly blunders) but I could envisage a competition where each player makes 90 moves against one opponent. Each win is a goal. England kick off against Trinidad and the West Indians make a blunder and see they are going to lose the first game, so they resign after eleven moves. Then they restart with white, and can England hold out for the remaining 79 moves or will they win another games (score a goal) ? My games on Stan's vary between 11 moves and about 65, could reach 90, but in long games, a blunder seems almost inevitable for me, to bring it to an abrupt end.
