Okay, thanks.
I'm a bit surprised that someone would put through a "withdrawl request". I was always under the the impression that if a person was in a tournament and you wanted to quit it, it was up to that player to find their own replacement.

Reyn,
There is no such thing as a replacement in a Swiss Tournament. A player is merely withdrawn and is not part of the next round pairings.
We also automatically withdraw any player that forfeits any game in a Swiss Tournament -- no questions asked. So you will see that the Open Swiss probably has about 36 withdrawn from the original 410 who entered.

I would have thought that withdrawing would have skewed the outcome of the tournament, but I guess you have a way of adjusting for this then?
Interesting to know, thanks.

Reyn,
The Swiss Style tournaments pair players against players with the same number of points in each round. We estimate the result of the unfinished games using a complex systems -- not wortgh mentioning here.
So in the Open Swiss we started with 410 players and 205 games in round 1. In round 9 we will be down to 374 players or 187 games. It really makes no difference if someone withdraws. The only real issue could come if a highly ranked player in the tournament forfeited their last 4 games in the tournament (rounds 13-16) -- otherwise the system tends to self adjust nicely.

Savin,
I've been trying to email you, but my message keeps coming back to me as undeliverable. Anyway, I would like the withdraw from the 2006 Open Swiss Tourney. I'm having a hard time keeping up with all these car-pace games, which is probably driving some of my opponents crazy. When I signed up for the tourney, I thought I could handle the game load, but I'm realizing that it is too much for me. Of course, I'll finish my current tourney games, but please don't create anymore games for me in this tourney.
Thanks. J64sqs (ID:13134)

J64sqs,
I only see you in the Open Swiss Tournament. Is that correct?
I will remove you before we launch round #10.

Reyn - A private message or email to Savin might help you get an answer to this. I know you've asked a few times. Savin must have missed it.

I take it that you're not able to start the rounds?
Round 11 (according to the schedule) was to start July 3rd and 12 on the 10th.
I guess these tourney rounds can't start automatically, like other games, because forfeiting players get removed?

Yes - Savin totally controls the Enhanced Tourneys, and players do get removed occasionally.

Savin,
I would like to be removed from the Category 3 Swiss and the Open Swiss, please, before you launch Round 11.
