Is the so-called New Rating system still maintained?
And if so would it be possible to get a link?
In fact, now we've lost the old forum I can't find any of Savin's statistical pages and lots of other tournament stuff...
I know the old forum got messed up, but to start from scratch seem very drastic ;(

The ratings are really helpful. I find I steadily win against even slightly (100 or more lower) lower ratings (except when I blunder) but lose steadily against slightly (100 or more higher) rated players.
This came as a bit of a reveleation to me and it does not seem to matter so much whether I play black or white. This comes more into it when I play more evenly rated opponents.

Perseus,
we will be releasing the new rating system in stages. The final step will be a redesign of the Player Home page and we won't do that until everyting else is ready.
Sometime in the next 2 weeks we will make some of the new "Subcriber Only" reports available. However, these reports will of course be for subscribers only.
In the first version of these reports subscribers will be able to see for themselves, and any player on the site:
1) How their rating has changed by month since the arrived at the site:
2) How they performed against other players by level, how they perform with the white pieces versus the black pieces, etc.
3) A list of major events they have had during their time at the site such as when they became established, when they completed their 100th game, when they achieved a new "Highest rating" etc.
4) Statistics about how they perform against the top players at the site (Mastrs andd Senior masters)
5) How often they forfeit games, how often they are a No Show in a game
6) The average rating of the opponents they have played.
We will be adding to these Subscriber Only stats during the next few months. We hope that the stats will include information information about how often a player plays a particular opening and how succcessful they are by around mid year. Our only issue there is making sure that we can do this in way that is effecient from the server's point of view.
We wll also be produciing some site level statistics some of which will be visible by everyone and some will be subscriber only.
So expect to see some announcement in the next 5-6 days.
