I have been asked a couple of times about who are the top players of all time at Stan's NetChess. We have had very few of our top players retire from the site, the most notable retiree is Pluto. Here is the all time list: Player Name | Highest Rating | Games Played | Status | cavallo | 2542 | 125 | Active | pluto | 2533 | 715 | Retired | sisyfos | 2496 | 491 | Active | ast68 | 2449 | 113 | Active | Savin | 2436 | 309 | Active | Wolf | 2433 | 57 | Active | Mati | 2428 | 220 | Active | senna2 | 2415 | 158 | Active | gunner | 2412 | 363 | Active | powerpoul | 2396 | 240 | Active | Seneca54 | 2393 | 195 | Active | Cardinero | 2390 | 129 | Active | nobodyspawn | 2376 | 61 | Active | goon26 | 2364 | 85 | Retired | edmund | 2362 | 301 | Retired | MyrLynn | 2358 | 147 | Active | Caissa | 2355 | 64 | Active | larryljubo | 2353 | 183 | Active | Centerman | 2353 | 183 | Active | Rock16 | 2348 | 593 | Active | Sasha | 2335 | 144 | Active | ZorMaster | 2332 | 925 | Active | Pete-The Irish Soul | 2329 | 272 | Retired | FREEBIRD1056 | 2326 | 427 | Active |

Another interesting question I get is "Who has the most wins in a month" If we score 1pt for a win and 1/2 point for a draw then the highest score in a month for active players are: Player | Games Completed | Score | Date | BOD1969 | 178 | 105.5 | October 2002 | Stormcrow | 127 | 96.5 | March 2003 | okie901 | 120 | 79.5 | August 2001 | Caesar911 | 116 | 78.5 | November 2001 | BOD1969 | 133 | 77.0 | September 2002 | BOD1969 | 124 | 75.0 | April 2003 | Chessmonster | 99 | 74.0 | August 2002 |

I'm not asking you to name names Savin, that wouldn't be fair, but what standard are these top players? Do we have any International Masters amongst us, or perhaps the odd Grandmasters, just passing a bit of time now and again.

I'd rather we not post negative stuff like that.

I knew that would be your answer. Seems you only post when I do. Why is that Stan?

That's just the impression you get. I post when I feel it's appropriate.

Gritty,
Of the top 20 players at the site, I have some idea about who 8 of them are in real life (confirmed information). Of those players some are still active in top OTB tournaments and some are retired from OTB tournaments, but I know of them from 30 years ago when I wass playing OTB. Our top rated player had an FIDE Elo rating of a little over 2300, the second highest also wass just over 2300. We have 3 players who had ratings in the 2200-2300, range. We have two players who are still very active with ratings in the 2150-2200 range.
Having said that, OTB and CC chess are very different. To reach the top of OTB requires a lot of study and the ability to think quickly under pressure. CC chess allows you to refer to chess books and the time pressure is gone.
From a title point of view we do have one FIDE ladies IM at the site. To my knowledge we do not have any FIDE IMs at the site, but we do have 3-4 playerrs who got very close to that.

John, do you eat, sleep and haunt websites?
Your promise to stop causing trouble here didn't last too long.
