There are three types of tourneys at the site: "Site Tourneys" are available only to subscribers. They are totally managed by the system. Subscribers can create their own tourneys and the system manages registration, game creation, Playoffs (if necessary) and awards presentation.
"Enhanced Tourneys" are tourneys created by the administrators of Stan's NetChess. We manage the registration and game creation phases. There are special programs at the site that report on these tourneys. Savin is the lead manager of the Enhanced Tourneys. Without him they would not be here.
"Associate Tourneys" are tournaments that are run by members of Stan's NetChess. It is totally up to them to manage registration, game matchups, standings, playoffs (if any) and awards. These tourneys have their own websites that are managed by the tourney director. They do not reside on the Stan's NetChess server. The only thing tied to Stan's NetChess is that the games are played here. Associate Tourney directors have tools available to them to create games and present awards for their tourneys.
I know that's more than you asked for, but I figured it was a good time to run down all types of tourneys for everyone's benefit.
