It seems that some players put games up But unfortunately they don't move in some games even though it is a 7 day game they waste time I'm not saying any names they know who they are

I agree, though all my present opponents are fine, there have been some ... ;-)
Do you, or anyone on SNC, have any practical suggestions to combat this practice?

If you don't want a player to wait a week between moves, then choose the 3-day option.
I don't remember the state of all my games in play; I often play 25-50 games at once, with the 30-day option. I just log in, see what games are awaiting my move, and examine the board, sometimes using the Java applet to help me understand a bit easier what the strategy is of a particularly complex move order.
By having multiple games at once, I don't have to worry that any given player hasn't moved--I always have some game active for me.
