Well I never had much more than few second delay before (I know there was a LOT of whining about that few seconds) but today after announcement that the move was complete not only getting timed out messages when trying to make a move but also "stansco.com not found" a better part of the day........... Does not bode well for the future

I don't know... it has been looking pretty good for me. Anyone else want to report on the site after the change - good or bad?
Scarecrow - What operating system are you using? (Windows?)

Stan, I did just get the "page not found" message a few minutes ago, but other than that, it seems to have been not too bad.
By the way, I'm using Windows XP, with the IE 7 browser.

Scarecrow - No, I don't have a different combination. I was just noticing this last weekend that my Linux Browser was terribly slow when using the old site, even though a Windows XP machine using the same internet connection was very fast.
If you said you were using LInux, I was going to suggest trying a windows machine just to see if it worked better for you in your location.
Wookie - are you still not able to get any pages to show?

Wookie, can you try "pining" stansco.com? To do that (assuming you are using WIndows), click on the Start button, choose "Run...", and run "cmd" (without the quotes). A "DOS Window" will open. at the prompt in that window, type "ping stansco.com" (again, without the quotes). If it shows reply times and doesn't say "no reply" or something like that, then your computer knows where stansco.com is. Maybe just clicking on the refresh button in your browser will cause the pages to load?
Keep me informed please. Try multiple pages (links at the top of this page).

yes - I'm poking around all over the place and it is fast everywhere I go. I am NOT directly connected or anything like that. I have a DSL connection.
I wonder if it is the Domain Name Server(s) that your internet provider is using? Is there a friend or someone near you that could try getting to the site?
Were you able to try the Ping thing?

Stan, I'm not having any problems at all right now and I also agree that it is quite fast.
I would be curious to know physically where the host and server is located.
Obviously, some of the other folks are having problems with routers between their location and the server.

Well I do not know much about computers......but I do know a little about logic........after clicking on my 300 other bookmarks on my computer the ones related to "Stansco.com" are the only ones that do not work.....and seeing that the server has just moved I think I can safely conclude there is nothing the matter on my end......... Will wait a few days, I am sure you will note less traffic than usual at site and eventually explore the potential problems/solutions

Scarecrow - I hear what you are saying. I am trying to find out why you are having trouble. I'm not going to wait for days before exploring the problem and solutions. There have been over 3,500 moves at the site, so it is working for most. That doesn't mean your trouble is not important to me - it is. The seemingly obvious answer right now is the Domain Servers that your internet connection is using. There are thousands (millions?) of Domain Servers around the world. They are used to map domain names (like "stansco.com") to the machines (IP Addresses) that those domains are hosted on. The Domain Servers around the world are constanly replicating their information to each other. I told the Domain Server that stansco.com is registered with that the IP Address changed. That was pushed out to all of the other around the world. It probably still has not reached every single Domain Server, but it will shortly. Some people say it can take 24 to 48 hours to make it to all of the servers. The thing that is strange in your case is that it worked for a while, then stopped working. That might be explained by your Internet Provider having multiple Domain Name servers. Maybe some of them have the new address of my server and some don't???
I think the site will start working for you soon. Please check in with me here again in the morning if you can and let me know your status then.
Reyn - the new server is located in Florida.

Reyn - the new server is located in Florida. Well, isn't that interesting? So far, my access has been much faster from my location (British Columbia) for the new server than the old one. As a matter of fact, it was like the old days before about October 2004, or so. I can only conclude that currently the access that I go through has better routers than before.

FWIW, I haven't had any problems, was very impressed with the length of downtime
