As the tournament director I am well aware that many non-subscribers are just as reliable as subscribers. But suddenly it becomes my own subjective view ... So I make another exception ... As it was I had about 10 poison pen emails from annoyed playersI don't think offering new stuff to subscribers is elitist, I think its only fair that those making a contribution have certain advantages.
There is a level of service offered to all members, whether they subscribe or don't subscribe. Then there is a higher level of service offered to those that subscribe that is above and beyond ...
savin,
As the tournament director you might consider including in any introductory [conditions of entry] preamble, “These [conditions] are none negotiable and your application for entry is taken as acceptance of these [conditions].”. You should [theoretically!] never again be put in the position of being called upon to give special dispensation to any malcontent. As for those who subject you to their email pernicious displeasure, they clearly have no sense of the invaluable work you do for them, and everyone of us on SNC. I suggest you start treating them with the disdain they deserve? Ignore them! If necessary configure your mail browser to treat their emails as spam.
Like you, I don't think offering new stuff to subscribers is elitist. What is elitist is the demeaning declaration, "We are paying for all you NS on SNC!”
Like you, I think its both fair and reasonable those making a contribution should have certain advantages, and be able to enjoy a 'higher level of service'.
Without talented, generous, and kindly folk, such as yourself, I think this site would very likely implode. I am grateful to you and your fellow SNC volunteers for everything you have done, everything your are doing, and everything you will do!
All power to savin!
